Meantime
I'm sitting in the little waiting room at my Tuesday gig, waiting for a computer to become available. The reading material available in said waiting area includes but is not limited to The Collected Cathy (the comic strip) in hardback, Girls and Corpses and UFO magazines and a self-help book entitled I Aint much, Baby-But Im All I've Got.

Upstate
So I'm heading up to Cold Spring for the weekend, wherein I will participate in a new project workshop with my colleagues The Builders Association, and then on Sunday attend a sending off party for my good friend Detective Computer, who is taking a 1-year sabbatical from life in the USA (not a bad idea, innit). It's hard to believe, but I will be going upstate again next weekend, to Syracuse.
The good news is that Sylvia has received her TEMPORARY DRIVERS PERMIT, so she can help with the driving now. It's on!
In other news, I just got my cool new JCPenny Card! I can't wait to start flashing it around town. I can even use it at Rite Aid and CVS. Look out world!
Nerd note: I will try to upload pictures throughout the weekend to the sidebar, so check back periodically for updates.

Gadgetry
I recently got an iphone. It's an amazing little gadget, and while it hasn't solved all of my problems, it continues to fascinate me. Let me give you a forinstance. I paid $1.99 for an app that allows me to upload pictures stored on the phone to any folder I choose on my webserver (via FTP). With a few lines of code I can display (for example) the latest uploaded picture. What you see in the left sidebar is the result. I'm sure all the other smartphones do this stuff too but I've never used any of them. The sudden availability of all these apps is a bit overwhelming and sure there's a lot of crap but by god there's some useful and interesting stuff out there too and a lot of it's free. But don't listen to me, I'm still amazed at the convenience of being able to check email from the street and to google-map myself at all hours.

Bonester
You may find it amusing that my cat, MR BONES, who died a little over a year ago, still has a Friendster page. I'd forgotten about this until recently. I think I have a Friendster page somewhere, too. And so do you, probably. Anyway, here's a snapshot of MR BONES' profile:
