Opening Series

April and May are going to be full of sports news, so bear with me now. The NBA playoffs just started over the weekend, and the Cleveland Cavaliers are the goddamn No. 1 top sead. We're in it to win it! Speaking of hometown teams, last Saturday I took my Dad to the new Yankee Stadium to
see the Yanks play the Indians. As it turned out, history was made when Cleveland scored 14 runs in the bottom of the second inning. I've never seen anything like it on TV, let alone live at a ballpark. Turns out it was the most runs ever scored against any Yankee team in one inning. I can't get over it. It was awesome to behold. Their No. 9 hitter, Asdrubal Cabrera, hit a grand slam for chrissake.
Aside from the carnage (the final score was 22-4), it was cool to see the new stadium. The fans still seem the same, which is a relief.
At one point, a sea of Yankee jerseys in the bleachers where we were sitting started chanting "Boston Sucks" in that obnoxious sneery S. Bronx cadence so often heard imitated by smaller market teams (not including the Indians of course). And after the 2nd inning onslaught, an already drunk NY fan starting telling a lot of strangers to "go back to Cleveland" and reminding them that the Yanks have "24 more rings than you." You know it's gotta be bad when they start talking about the rings and the game isn't even half over.
